Welcome to Filipa Hut - the highest settlement in the Czech Republic

Our cottage U Chladů is located on the southern slope of the mountain Antýgl, in a picturesque Sumava village at an altitude of 1120 meters above sea level. The quiet surroundings surrounded by forests offer perfect peace and unique views of the peaks of the Velký and Malý Roklan. An ideal place to relax in the heart of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The cottage is situated away from the main road between Kvilda and Modrava, surrounded by meadows and forests. If you arrive by public transport, the nearest stop is Filipova Hut', about 1 km away (about 10-15 minutes walk).

We built the house in 2003 with respect for the local architecture and landscape. Many of our guests believe that it is an original historic building - and we are very pleased about that.

Cottage U Chladů is an ideal place for families with children and for all who are looking for peace, quiet and true relaxation. Our wish is that you feel at home with us.

  • Social facilities: each apartment has its own bathroom with shower and toilet - soap, toilet paper are included
  • Bed linen, towels, tea towels are included
  • The kitchenette is equipped with (dishes, pots, cutlery)
  • Electrical appliances (electric kettle, electric cooker, microwave, fridge)
  • Heating - central heating
  • TV, radio, free wifi

Capacity

Pets are welcome by prior arrangement, fee according to price list.

Baby travel cot including bed linen is available for free.

The apartments are non-smoking.

Outdoor equipment

  • Parking at the property - free

  • During the stay, guests can use the outdoor seating area and, in bad weather, the illuminated pergola

  • On summer days you can grill meat or roast sausages on the fireplace

  • There is a children's playground for young visitors

  • For avid mushroom pickers, we have a free dryer that can be used in the outdoor pergola. Due to the strong aromatic smell of mushrooms, it is not allowed to dry mushrooms in the apartment.

Layout of the building

The cottage is divided into two parts - one serves as family housing, the other with its own entrance offers accommodation in four fully equipped apartments.

Three apartments are located on the 1st floor, the fourth on the ground floor is suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Kašperk Castle

  • Approximately 25 km from Filipovy Hut
  • The highest royal castle in Bohemia, founded by Charles IV. It offers magnificent views of Šumava and is open to the public with the possibility of guided tours.

Ruins of Rabí Castle

  • about 50 km from Filipovy Hut
  • The largest castle ruin in the Czech Republic. The impressive remains of the Gothic castle offer a glimpse into history and beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Velhartice Castle

  • approximately 55 km from Filipovy Hut
  • Gothic castle known for its unique stone bridge. It offers tours and cultural events in a historic setting.

Libín lookout tower

  • near Prachatice, about 50 km from Filipovy Hut
  • The historic stone lookout tower from 1883 stands at the top of Mount Libín (1 096 m above sea level). After climbing to the viewing platform at a height of 27 metres, you will have views of Šumava, Temelín and the Alps.

Three Lakes Slough

  • near Modrava, about 6 km from Filipovy Hut
  • Protected upland peat bog with a short nature trail along a boardwalk. Three dark pools and the presence of the carnivorous sundew make this bog one of the most attractive stops in the heart of Šumava.

Poledník Lookout Tower

  • near Prášil, about 20 km from Filipovy Hut
  • The former military tower converted into a lookout tower (1 315 m above sea level) offers a unique circular view of the Šumava plains, Roklany, Luzný and the Alps. A hiking trail from Prášil leads to the tower, ideal for a day trip.

Hutska hora and the memorial of the plane crash

  • above Filipovou Hut, about 2 km on foot
  • On Christmas Eve 1937, an Air France plane crashed here on a flight from Vienna to Prague. A stone monument with the names of the victims was erected at the site of the tragedy. An easy hiking trail leads to the memorial.

Hájovna Březník

  • above Modrava, about 6 km from Filipovy Hut
  • Historical farmhouse at the confluence of the Modrava streams, known from the novels of Karel Klostermann. It offers a view of the valley of the Luzenské brook and the Luzný. Today you will find a small exhibition and refreshments, an ideal destination for a hiking or cycling tour.

Winter Šumava: where to go for snow and experiences

Kvilda - ski resort

  • Kvilda, about 5 km from Filipovy Hut
  • Smaller family ski resort with several lifts and a ski school. Ideal for beginners, children and recreational skiing. Groomed slopes, possibility of night skiing.

Zadov - Khuranov

  • Zadov, about 12 km from Filipovy Hut
  • One of the largest resorts in Sumava. It offers several slopes of different difficulty, a chairlift and facilities for families. There is also a ski jump with a lookout tower.

Špičák - Železná Ruda

  • Špičák, approx. 50 km
  • A large complex in Železná Ruda with lifts, modern facilities and several slopes including a black slope. Suitable for demanding skiers.

Maple - Bavarian side

  • Big Maple (Großer Arber), approx. 60 km
  • The highest peak of the Bavarian Forest with a large ski area. Modern lifts, snow safety, wide slopes and views all the way to the Alps.

Cross-country skiing trails - Filipova Hut' and surroundings

  • Directly from the village you can connect to groomed cross-country ski trails leading to Kvilda, Horská Kvilda, Modrava, Březník or Poledník. Trails of various lengths and difficulty, quality treatment thanks to the White Tracks project.

Pets are welcome in our home if they are eligible in a foreign environment.
They must be supervised by the owner for the duration of their stay, they are not allowed to stay alone in the apartment.

Cancellation policy

excerpt from the GTC of Accommodation U Chladů
If the Customer cancels the ordered and confirmed services, he/she is obliged to pay the Provider cancellation fees according to the price conditions of the reservation; the cancellation fees will be calculated from the total price for the cancelled services as follows depending on the time of cancellation by the Customer:
  • up to 30 days before expected arrival: 0% free of charge
  • 29 to 21 days before the expected arrival date: 25% of the total price of the booked accommodation and services
  • 20 to 14 days before the expected arrival date: 50% of the total price of the booked accommodation and services
  • 13 to 8 days before the expected arrival date: 75% of the total price of the booked accommodation and services
  • 7 days or less before the expected arrival date and in case the client does not arrive: 100% of the total price of the ordered accommodation and services
These cancellation policies are valid for both individual guests and group bookings.
